LAHORE: A five-year-old girl was raped in Lahore by unidentified men, drawing the attention of the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif as he took notice of the rape and directed the police to ensure early arrest of the culprits.

The men dumped the ill-fated girl, identified as Sunbhal and the resident of Mughalpura area, outside Ganga Ram hospital and managed to flee following the rape.

The sources said that Sunbhal and her two-year-old brother, Ahmed, went out of their house on Thursday evening but did not return. Later, Ahmad was recovered from Child Protection Bureau. Sunbhal’s father is a government servant.

According to a doctor in the hospital, Sunbhal was still unconscious. The doctor said she need surgery, however, pediatric surgery facility was not available at Ganga Ram hospital.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the rape and sought a detailed inquiry report and directed the police to ensure early arrest of the culprits.
