Islamabad, Pakistan: General Qamar Javed  Bajwa, COAS visiting flood-affected areas in Swat today to get ground updates about evacuation and relief operations of stranded people in Kumrat/ Kalam and surrounding areas.

It may be mentioned that the government of Pakistan and the United Nations Pakistan will jointly launch the 2022 Pakistan Floods Response Plan (UN Flash Appeal) today (Tuesday, 30 August 2022). After the launch event a Joint Press stakeout for the “2022 Pakistan Floods Response Plan” will be held by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and United Nations Resident Coordinator, Julien Harneis.

82 helicopter sorties have been conducted in flood-affected areas of the country for rescue/ relief operations.

27 x helicopter sorties, evacuated 316 x stranded individuals, and delivered 23.753 x tons of ration/relief items duration *last 24 hrs

3540 x Ration Packets and 250 x tents were distributed among flood affectees during last 24 hours.

51 x Free Medical Camp establish in which 33025 x patients treated

Army Flood relief coordination center is a function under Headquarters Army Air Defence Command with a mandate to coordinate rescue and relief efforts in sync with stakeholders at the Army level.

217 x Relief items collection points have been established in all Formations Area of Responsibility for collection and onwards distribution of relief stores, 122.87 x tons food of (Atta, pulses, sugar etc) 5.9 x tons of sustenance items (tents, quilts, cloths etc) & 0.15 x tons medicines collected so far along with other sustenance items (clothes, solar lights, sleeping bags etc)

International flood Relief Assistance

7 Military aircraft from Turkey have arrived at Karachi carrying relief goods. 3 military aircraft from UAE have arrived at Noorkhan Air Base Rawalpindi. 2 aircraft from China will reach Karachi today carrying 3000 tents.

Tarpaulins and shelters from Japan will reach Karachi today. Canada has announced US $ 5 million assistance. The UK has pledged 1.5 million pounds. Azerbaijan has announced 2 million US dollars. The relief goods being brought through these aircraft include tentage, medicine, and food items
