CARACAS: The 29-year-old former Miss Venezuela, Monica Spear Mootz, was shot dead along with her husband last night after an attempted robbery on the Puerto Cabello-Valencia highway in Venezuela.
Police said that Spear was travelling with her 49-year-old husband Thomas Henry Berry and five-year-old daughter on the Puerto Cabello-Valencia highway in Venezuela when their car, Toyota sedan, broke down.
Meanwhile, unknown assailants arrived and tried to rob them but they resisted. In response, the robbers opened fire on them. As a result of firing, the couple died on the spot, while their daughter sustained leg injury.
Spear was crowned Miss Venezuela in 2004 and later went on to become an actress.
