LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday conditionally allowed former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to contest the upcoming elections from NA-51. Moreover, the court ordered to include his name in the final list of candidates contesting elections.
Former PM had challenged his disqualification in the provincial court earlier today.
In his plea, he had contended that there was no reference in the National Accountability Bureau nor was he convicted in the Rental Power case, therefore, the verdict of the Election Tribunal be annulled.
The Election Tribunal on Monday had dismissed the appeal of the former prime minister against the rejection of his nomination papers from NA-51 and declared him ineligible to contest elections.
