PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A collision took place between a passenger van and a car in Banda Dawood Shah tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district on Thursday, killing at least four persons and critically injuring seven others.
The sources said that both the vehicles fell into a deep ravine after the collision on Kohat-Bannu road. They further said that the passenger van was travelling from Peshawar to Bannu when it collided with the car.
The injured persons were immediately shifted to hospitals. More fatalities are feared in the accident.
In a statement, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak expressed deep grief and sorrow over tragic road accident in Karak district.
The Chief Minister directed the district administration Karak to provide necessary help to the bereaved families and injured persons.
Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, close to 9,000 road accidents have been reported across the country every year since 2011 which have killed over 4,500 people on an average.
