PESHAWAR: At least four levies personnel were killed and seven others were injured when two explosions and firing incident took place at Bara Road in Peshawar on Monday, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
The sources said that unidentified gunmen wearing Levies uniforms opened fire at a political agent’s office aiming at to release suspects who were earlier arrested during a security operation. A hearing of the held suspects was to take place at the office, they said.
A Jirga of political parties was also scheduled in the office today to finalize the code of conduct for the forthcoming general elections.
According to sources, the exchange of fire between security forces and the assailants lasted for half an hour.
The army cordoned off the area immediately after the firing began and blocked surrounding roads for all traffic. The people injured in the exchange of fire were shifted to a hospital, however, the exact number of the injured remains unknown.
