ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The authorities executed four more death row convicts in Mianwali and Gujranwala Central Jails on Wednesday morning.

Three condemned prisoners including Muhammad Riaz Khan, Muhammad Mumtaz Khan and Amaanullah Khan were hanged to death in Central Jail in Mianwali. They were found guilty in a case related to a triple murder in 2006.

Likewise, another death row prisoner Waqar was hanged in Central Jail Gujranwala for killing five persons including three children and a woman in 2002.

Five death row convicts have been executed in various jails since the month of August commenced.

On Tuesday, death row prisoner Shafqat Hussain was hanged to death at the Karachi Central Jail. He was arrested and sentenced to death in 2004 for the kidnapping and involuntary murder of a seven-year-old boy who lived in a Karachi apartment building where Shafqat Hussain worked as a security guard.

The federal government had execution of convicted prisoners prior to the commencement of the holy month of Ramazan. However, hangings resumed after Eidul Fitr.

Since December 2014, about 150 persons who were found guilty of committing murders or terror attacks have been executed in various jails across Pakistan.
