ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Further 40 people died of COVID-19 and 4,858 new infections were reported across Pakistan on August 1, as per the latest statistics issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday morning.
In the last 24 hours, Sindh reported 20 COVID deaths, Punjab 8, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 6, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan 3 each.
The NCOC’s statistics showed that 56,414 COVID tests were conducted throughout the Country on August 1, and 4,858 of them returned positive showing a ratio of 8.61%.

The statistics showed that a total of 1,039,695 Coronavirus Cases have been reported in the Country since the beginning.
Out of them, 357,735 Cases have been registered in Punjab, 385,414 in Sindh, 144,848 in KPK, 88,093 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 30,502 in Balochistan, 24,891 in AJK, and 8,212 Gilgit-Baltistan.
Likewise, so far 23,462 COVID patients have passed away in the Country.
The province-wise data shows that Punjab has so far suffered 11,067 COVID deaths, Sindh 6,021, KPK 4,468, ICT 803, AJK 628, Balochistan, 328, and Gilgit-Baltistan 147.
As of August 2, 943,020 COVID patients have recovered from the disease throughout the Country while 73,213 patients remain to be under treatment.
Meanwhile, the NCOC meeting to be held in Islamabad today will discuss the surge in Coronavirus Positive Cases in the Country.
The meeting will also deliberate upon measures to contain the spread of new variant of virus in the Country.
The forum will decide about new restrictions and steps for strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to contain COVID-19 besides increasing the vaccination process across the Country.
