RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday arrived at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi where he visited Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered fateha besides laying wreath.
In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to formally welcome the new COAS in his office who reviewed the parade.
The 57-year-old General Bajwa took Charge as the 16th COAS at an impressive Change of Command Ceremony at GHQ on Tuesday from General Raheel Sharif.
Talking informally to media representative after assuming the Command, the new COAS said that Pakistan army would continue safeguarding the country against internal and external threats. He assured that Pakistan army would take the war on terror to its logical end with the backing of the entire nation.
The new COAS also said the media in Pakistan should have continued playing its part in boosting morale of security forces, and not let despondency be spread in the country.
