BEIJING, China: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Gen Qi Jianguo in Beijing on Sunday and discussed full range of regional security and defence related issues, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR said that the two sides discussed different matters of bilateral cooperation including enhanced long term defence collaboration, security and counter terrorism cooperation, intelligence sharing and training exchanges during the meeting.
Earlier at his arrival, the COAS was presented Guard of Honour at the People’s Liberation Army Headquarters. He reviewed guard of honor along with his Chinese counterpart.
The COAS also held a meeting with China’s Central Military Commission Vice Chairman General Fan Changlong in Beijing.
The ISPR said that General Fan described Pakistan and China as strategic partners, most important neighbours and tied in strong bonds of brotherhood.
Fan Changlong expressed solidarity with Pakistan in indiscriminate operation against terrorists.
The Chinese general also lauded national consensus against terrorism, and Pakistan’s resolve and sacrifices in fighting the menace. He assured China’s full support to Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.
General Raheel said that with nation’s support, the army will go to any extent to eliminate terrorism.
The army chief left for a two-day visit to China on Saturday to hold meetings with China’s political and military leadership to discuss issues pertaining to security and defence cooperation between the two countries.
