RIO De JANEIRO, Brazil: Germany beat Argentina by 1-0 in the final of the FIFA football World Cup played at Rio de Janeiro’s famous Maracana Stadium in Brazil on Sunday, becoming the first European team to win a World Cup in South America.
The 22-year-old Germany’s forward Mario Goetze scored the winning goal in the 113th minute of the match.
Earlier, Netherlands beat hosts Brazil by 3-0 and won the third place in the tournament.
