Government is committed to double budget for education, says Ishaq Dar
Lahore, (DND): “PML-N government is committed to double the GDP for education by the year 2018 and improvement in education sector will be possible only with the collaboration of provinces”.
This was said by the Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Ishaq Dar while chairing a meeting of the Board of Governors of University of Health Sciences here at the UHS Campus on Saturday.
According to Dispatch News Desk News Agency, Senator Ishaq Dar was of the view that government is giving top priority to those sectors of educations that had been neglected in past. He assured the Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Aslam and Board of Governors that he would do all that is possible for a grant and also help resolve other issues faced by the university administration. The minister was also informed about the initiation of Dental Sciences Post Graduate Program by the UHS. Minister Dar appreciated the initiative.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Aslam briefed the minister about the university and its ongoing projects. He said that the UHS stands second in the country according to the HEC rankings. He informed the Minister that the Kala Shah Kaku campus of the university was under construction and requested him to help the university administration get a grant of Rs 5 billion from the government. He said thus far the expenses for the construction had been borne by the university itself but it was difficult to keep up pace of work solely on its own.
During his visit in Lahore, Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar also chaired a meeting of the Religious Purpose Committee of Daata Darbar and lauded the efforts of the administration and the committee on making immaculate arrangements for the annual Urs congregation earlier this year and Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan. He congratulated all members of the committee in this regard and directed that the arrangements be further improved in future.
