NEW DELHI, India: The Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has described the Jamaat ud Dawa Chief Hafiz Saeed as a Pakistani national who is “free to roam around” in the country, the Indian media reported.
“Hafiz Saeed is a Pakistani national, he is free to roam around. What’s the problem?,” Basit told reports in response to a question on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi on Monday.
“Let us hope that the talks between India & Pakistan resume sooner than later,” the Pakistani envoy further said.
The Indian government has been pressing Pakistan to act against Hafiz Saeed given his link to the 26/11 Mumbai attack. However, Pakistan has all along maintained that there is no credible evidence linking him to the terror attack.
