KARACHI: At least four persons were injured when two back-to-back hand grenade attacks occurred inside Central Jail in Karachi on Saturday night. Rangers have arrested one suspect at the backside of Jail and recovered weapons from him.
Sources said that six motorcyclists hurled hand grenades at the Office of the Inspector General of Prisons located next to central jail and fled away.
The attackers also fired shots before hurling grenades at the IG office, eyewitnesses said.
Security has been ramped up at the sensitive sites.
Law enforcement forces have cordoned off the area and a search operation has been launched inside the prison.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah have taken notice of the incident and ordered a swift probe into the incident.
