QUETTA, Pakistan: Finally the negotiations between the government and the protesting Shia Hazara Community have gone successful, paving the way for wrapping up the sit-in staged since January 3 in Quetta following the brutal killing of 11 coal miners.
Sources said that the government has accepted the demands put forward by the sit-in participants; therefore, it’s likely that the protesting Hazaras will soon announce to end the sit-in.
Last Sunday, terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State brutally murdered 11 coal miners belonging to the Shia Hazara Community in Balochistan’s Mach coalfield area.
To register their protest over the killing, the families of slain coal miners refused to bury the dead bodies and staged a sit-in in Quetta, demanding Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit them and taking the culprits to the task.
Sources said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to visit Quetta to meet the dejected Hazara Community. However, further details haven’t been disclosed for security purposes.
Earlier on Wednesday, in a Twitter statement, the prime minister assured the Hazara Community Members to address their sufferings and also announced to visit them soon.
The prime minister also appealed to them to bury their loved ones who lost their lives in the Mach terrorist attack.
Meanwhile, the Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Vice President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz Sharif left for Quetta on Thursday to meet the bereaved Hazara protesters.
Talking to the media, Bilawal Bhutto called upon Prime Minister Imran Khan to accept the demands of Hazara families, protesting along with their dead for five days now.
Maryam Nawaz said that it is heartbreaking that families including women and children are sitting on the streets with the bodies of their loved ones.
The PML-N leader said that a prime minister is like the father of the nation, he should have gone there. She said that the prime minister should visit Quetta as the bereaved families are waiting for their leader to come and cure their sorrows.
Maryam Nawaz said that I was not getting security clearance either but I will go and ask them to bury their loved ones. She said that I am going at the request of Nawaz Sharif and will convey his message to the victims.
“I am also facing a security threat but I decided to meet the victims,” she said.
