KARACHI: At least four persons including a woman were killed while more than 20 others sustained injuries when an explosion took place near a mosque in Delhi colony area of Karachi on Friday.

The media citing Karachi police’s DIG south Khaliq Sheikh reported that an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted on a motorcycle parked near Faizan-e-Jehan Mosque which went off.

The Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon while talking to media persons at the blast site confirmed that four persons were in the blast. He also said that three government vehicles were damaged in the attack and that these vehicles were the apparent target of the blast.

The dead and injured were being shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre while security personnel cordoned off the area as a search operation went underway.
