ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman Thursday informed the Senate that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was planning to establish either a new university or a sub-campus of the existing universities at the district level across the Sindh province in next three years.
In a written reply to the House, the minister said a federal university at Hyderabad has been proposed to be established in financial year 2016-17 to accommodate Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Allah Yar districts.
The minister said that there was no University/Degree Awarding Institutions (DAIs) as well as its sub-campus established in District Tando Allah Yar, Sindh.
Baligh ur Rehman said that however, four universities were functional in the close vicinity of district Tando Allah Yar and were equally accessible for the people of district.
He said that the universities included Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Liaquat University of Health Sciences, Jamshoro and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.
