Government of PakistanI have never compromised on public mandate, democracy: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said he never compromised on the public mandate and democracy, reiterating he had done nothing wrong.

While presiding over the Parliamentary Party meeting of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Islamabad, the prime minister said none of the politicians in Pakistan ever presented himself for accountability.

The prime minister asked if there was any corruption of even a rupee in any of the motorway or energy projects initiated by the PML-N government. He asked the opponents to prove any allegation of kickbacks or corruption in his previous tenures.

Nawaz Sharif said in the last four year, power plants worth billions of rupees had been installed in Karachi, Punjab and other areas.

Sharif was of the view that in the Past, governments were removed by levelling allegations of Security risk and corruption.

Meanwhile, the PML-N’s parliamentary leaders promised to stand by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif with millions of supporters and voters.

The PML-N’s parliamentary leaders were of the view that foreign directors and internal actors were involved in the conspiracy against Sharif family, and said the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report was a compilation of contradictions.

They said it wasn’t possible for the JIT to finish its report in two months, alleging the report had been prepared a long ago.

Earlier, the members of PML-N’s parliamentary party warmly welcomed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by thumping desks on his arrival for the meeting.

The Federal Cabinet in its meeting held on Thursday also endorsed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision to not step down.

In the meantime, the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan wrote on his twitter account today that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had lost ethical reason to remain in the office, asking how could the public trust him?

Imran claimed evidences of money laundering and hiding assets had been proved against Nawaz Sharif. He said however despite all the evidences Nawaz Sharif was refusing to resign.

The PTI Chairman alleged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been deceiving the public for power.
