ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified campaign against those involved in violation of food and drug rules and special checking is being ensured throughout the city by various teams.
Drug Inspector Islamabad Sardar Shabbir Ahmed has conducted 15 inspections of drug outlets during last 48 hours, sealed one pharmacy and fined another one for violations of drug laws.
Food and Health Department teams also conducted 152 inspection of food outlets during last week and sealed a bakery in Super Market for violation of Hygiene and Sanitation Rules.
The teams also fined 26 unhygienic food outlets and issued notices to 26 food outlets for violation of hygiene and sanitation rules.
The teams confiscated 30 broken and filthy utensils and took six samples of food items for analysis by the laboratory.
Assistant Commissioner (Rural) Jawad Muzaffar during surprise inspections of fruit and vegetable shops in PWD area imposed fines worth Rs. 87,000 on the profiteers for over charging and directed to shopkeepers to display the rate list of food items.
A poultry farm was also sealed for violation of hygiene and sanitation rules.
The sanitary inspectors also delivered lectures on public health and highlighted the importance of hygiene and sanitation in preparing food.
The administration has directed the owners of food business to immediately improve the sanitary conditions and ensure compliance of food safety and hygiene laws, quality of food, vaccination of workers failing which strict action would be taken against the violators.
