KARACHI, Pakistan: The Ignite National Technology Fund, a public sector company with the Ministry of IT & Telecom, exhibited at the 11th Edition of International Defence Exhibition and Seminar, “IDEAS 2022” at Karachi Expo Centre.

Two startups with defense related products from National Incubation Center Karachi and two Ignite funded projects were showcased at the event.

The IDEAS (International Defense Exhibition & Seminar), being a hallmark of the defense industry, is the largest Expo in Pakistan with hundreds of local exhibitors and over 300 high profile foreign delegates from over 35 Countries visiting this year’s event.

This event was highlighted by a conference which provided an ideal opportunity to promote the technology potential of Pakistan.

Ignite’s stall showcasing defense related startups and funded projects attracted the attention of many visitors.

The startups from Ignite’s National Incubation Center Karachi included Bioniks, a startup providing best, cost-effective and highly trustable artificial limbs in Pakistan, and VTOL Dynamics, a startup providing drone-based solutions for inspection, mapping, surveying, surveillance and agriculture.

Funded projects included 5G SDR; a flexible solution for tactical communications (5G air-interface testbed: development of waveform and IP components) from CASE Institute of Technology, and Multimodal sensing enabled real-time intelligent wireless camera networks for secure spaces from Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS) at University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, Nadeem Nasir, Manager Communication at Ignite said, “Ignite has been providing both local and international networking events to our startups to pitch their business ideas and products to local and international customers and investors. IDEAS provides an opportunity to our defense related startups and projects to demo their products to visitors and potential customers. Ignite has launched its 8th incubation center in aerospace technologies recently and startups from the incubator will exhibit at next year’s IDEAS.”

Ignite is spearheading tech entrepreneurship in Pakistan having established a network of seven national incubation centers in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad, and Faisalabad so far with more incubation centers to be launched by next year.

More than 1,100 startups have been incubated by these incubators so far which have created more than 117,000 jobs, generated cumulative revenue of more than Rs 9 billion and raised funding of more than Rs 15 billion over the last 4 to 5 years.
