ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal information minister Pervaiz Rasheed has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is demanding resignation of the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to influence the court.
His statement came hours after Imran Khan met the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan in Islamabad and demanded that the Speaker National Assembly be suspended till investigation into the alleged rigging in the NA-122 constituency is complete.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Monday evening, the information minister said that Imran Khan has been misleading the nation for the last eight months.
The minister said that the PTI chief has been leveling baseless accusations of printing ballot papers from Urdu Bazar Lahore.
Rasheed said that Imran Khan did not repeat his allegations before the CEC in his today’s meeting with him.
The information minister said that ballots are printed on a special paper and by the security printing press instead of any ordinary printing press.
Earlier in the day, talking to the media persons in Islamabad after a meeting with the CEC, Imran Khan said that he had requested the Chief Election Commissioner to constitute two task forces for looking into giving overseas Pakistanis a right to vote and the possibility to introduce an electronic voting system for next general elections.
