ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and his ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith have congratulated Sadiq Khan on becoming of first Muslim Mayor of London.

The 45-year-old Pakistani origin Sadiq Khan won the London Mayoral Election on the ticket of Labour Party.
Sadiq Khan secured 56.8 percent votes while his main rival Zac Goldsmith of Conservative Party obtained 43.2 percent votes.
Talking to media at City Hall in Central London after his victory was confirmed, Sadiq Khan vowed to serve all citizens of London without any discrimination.
“This election was not without controversy and I am so proud that London has today chosen hope over fear and unity over division,” said Sadiq Khan who, in the election campaign, was accused by his rival of sympathizing with Islamic extremists.
Sadiq Khan also pledged for the provision of cheap transport and housing facilities to people.
The final results showed that Sadiq Khan received 1,310,143 votes whereas 994,614 went in favour of Zac Goldsmith, the brother of Imran Khan’s ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith.
In a statement, the Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed also congratulated Sadiq Khan upon his election as Mayor of London.
The minister said that the triumph of Sadiq Khan is a matter of great pride for the entire Pakistani nation.
