BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: As leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member Countries gathered in Bishkek for 19th Meeting of SCO’s Council of the Heads of State, Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Russian President Vladimir Putin spent some quality time together.
Though the two leaders didn’t have any formal meeting on the sideline of the SCO Summit but yet they held an informal discussion in a very cordial manner.
Both Imran Khan and Vladimir Putin were seen talking to each other on multiple occasions; whether they were at the luncheon or standing side by side in the group photoshoot.
Besides both these leaders, leaders of other SCO Member and Observer States as well as representatives of important International Organizations also attended the SCO’s Council of the Heads of State Meeting.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also held delegation level talks with the Chinese President Xi Jinping, and one-on-one meeting with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov in Bishkek.
The prime minister also addressed the SCO’s Council of the Heads of State Meeting, in which he proposed an eight-pronged course of action for SCO calling for a peaceful co-existence, regional trade, soft and infrastructure connectivity and a framework against corruption and white collar crimes among the Member States.
Imran Khan also urged the SCO Member States to finalize arrangements for trade in local currencies, and set up SCO Fund and SCO Development Bank to catalyze the trans-regional development agenda.
