Imran Khan announces he won’t to enjoy protocol in future

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said on Thursday that he would not enjoy protocol while traveling in future as one was witnessed during his recent visit to the Peshawar army public school.

His statement came after he faced strong criticism when he travelled to the army-run in Peshawar on Wednesday with a motorcade of at least 32 vehicles.

Imran Khan denounces VIP culture but he followed the status quo and the made full use of the VIP protocol during his visit to terror-hit school.

In a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, the PTI Chief said that there were only six protocol vehicles, rest belonged to his party ministers who had arrived at the airport to receive him as it was his first visit and his newly-wed wife Reham Khan was also accompanied him.

The PTI Chief vowed to the people that they would not witness him arriving with protocol in future.

“What has been portrayed as protocol were our party leaders, yet we decided no one would ever see such ‘protocol’ again,” Imran Khan said.

Upon his arrival at the APS in Peshawar on Wednesday, the PTI chief also had to face strong protest by the family and loved ones of those who had lost their lives in December 16 attack.

The protesters holding posters and banners complained that the provincial government did not show any concern regarding the school attack. They also lamented that it took Khan a month to come to Peshawar after the deadly school massacre.

“I can understand that the parents of the martyred children are aggrieved, but neither the school was run by the provincial government, nor its security was our domain. Everyone knows it is a military-run school,” Imran Khan said in the press conference.

Imran Khan further said that the his party leader Jehangir Tareen today wrote a letter to the federal finance minister Ishaq Dar, who is the head of the government negotiating team in talks with the PTI regarding the formation of judicial commission to probe the alleged rigging in 2013 general elections, to save dialogue process.
