SHANGHAI, China: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday met his Russian Counterpart Dmitri Medvedev in Shanghai on the sidelines of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) (Imran Khan- Dmitri Medvedev meeting).
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on Pakistan-Russia bilateral relations as well as regional issues including situation in South Asia and Afghanistan.

The two prime ministers expressed satisfaction on the upward trajectory of the Pak-Russia bilateral relations.
Reviewing ongoing economic, trade, defence and energy cooperation, Imran Khan stressed that the two sides should explore complementarities to maximize mutual benefit.
Explaining his government’s priorities, the prime minister underlined the importance of increasing economic cooperation with the Russian Federation and invited Russian investments in Pakistan. He welcomed Russian investments in the energy sector in Pakistan.
The Russian prime minister congratulated his Pakistani Counterpart on his election and underlined the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations especially in view of the changing regional dynamics.
The two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation on multilateral forums, particularly the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Meanwhile, the Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Pakistan Pavilion “Country of Honour” set up at the trade expo in Shanghai along with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
