ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has called upon the nation to step forward and take responsibility to make Pakistan a polio-free Country.

“As the nationwide campaign against polio begins across Pakistan, I call on the nation to step forward, take responsibility and make Pakistan #polio-free,” the prime minister said in a twitter message on Monday as an anti-polio campaign of varied durations began across the Country today.

During the anti-polio campaign, over 38 million children under the age of five years will be vaccinated anti polio drops. Over 27,000 health workers are participating in the campaign to ensure every child receives vaccine.

In Punjab, over 48,000 teams have been constituted for the five-day campaign to vaccinate children upto five years age all over the province.

Whereas in 188 Union Councils of Karachi, 2.4 million children will be administered anti-polio vaccine during the five-day drive.

Likewise in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about 5.9 million children will be administered anti-polio vaccine during the three-day campaign.

In Balochistan, the five-day anti-polio drive will be carried out in Quetta, Pishin and Qillah Abdullah while three-day drive in rest of the districts. During the campaign, 2.5 million children up to five years age would be administered anti- polio vaccine.

In Azad Kashmir, over 700,000 children up to five years of age would be administered anti polio drops in all 10 districts of the state.
