ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan would take the Oath as the Country’s next Prime Minister on August 18, PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed Khan said on Friday.

Imran Khan’s PTI secured 116 Seats in the Lower House the Parliament – National Assembly – in general elections 2018, and with the help of allies, has sealed a comfortable position to form a government in the Centre.

Imran Khan would be Pakistan’s 19th elected prime minister, replacing Shahid Khaqan Abbasi whose 10-month tenure ended on May 31, 2018. Currently, Justice (retd) Nasir-Ul-Mulk is assuming the Office of the Caretaker Prime Minister.

The PTI has already nominated Imran Khan for the Slot of Leader of the Lower House whereas his sole rival for the Post would be Joint Opposition-nominated Shahbaz Sharif, the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The maiden Session of the National Assembly has been summoned at 10:00 am on August 13 by President Mamnoon Hussain, in which the Outgoing Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will administer the Oath to the newly elected members followed by the elections of the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and the Leader of the House.

The PTI has named Asad Qaiser for the Speaker National Assembly.
