ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Thursday said that they would propose the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) through the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In twitter messages on Thursday, the Chairman PTI said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would introduce a bill in the provincial assembly according to which, the Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission would be appointed by the Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Imran Khan said that the Ehtesab Commission would also report to the Chief Justice PHC without having any interference from the provincial government.
The Chairman PTI further said that his party would propose the same for the appointment of Chairman NAB as since currently the head of the federal institution responsible to curb corruption is appointed by ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and main opposition party in the National Assembly People People’s Party (PPP) – which according to him ruled by corruption leaders – NAB Chairman can’t be independent and impartial.

The position of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission has been lying vacant since February 2016 when Lt. General (retd) Hamid Khan had resigned from his post in protest over amendments in the provincial anti-corruption act.
Since then, opponents have been heavily criticizing Imran Khan for not appointing DG Ehtesab Commission in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where his PTI rules because he had been the most vocal political leader against corruption.
