ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The legendary cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan and the former BBC weather girl Reham Khan’s wedding ceremony will be held with simplicity, the media reports said on Thursday.
The reports said that only a few close friends and relatives will be invited to attend the wedding ceremony.
The 62-year-old Imran Khan, who currently leads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) hinted in a press conference held in Islamabad on Tuesday that an official announcement was in the offing.
“Marriage is not a crime,” Imran said in Islamabad after his return from London where he reportedly had gone to convince his two sons about his marriage with current DawnNews anchorperson Rehman Khan.
Meanwhile, the PTI’s information secretary Shireen Mazari told media on Thursday that the wedding will be a low-key affair.
Mazari also dismissed reports that the wedding will be a fundraising event for Imran’s Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital.
“As far as I know, it is an extremely private affair. There are no such ticketed cards and no grand function,” she said.
“Imran is in no mood to celebrate after the Peshawar tragedy,” Mazari added. “This is not a time to celebrate.”
The PTI’s information secretary hinted that a nikah ceremony is likely to take place “today or this week”.
