Imran says he will prefer dissolving KPK assembly rather than succumbing to blackmailing

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that he will prefer dissolving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly rather than succumbing to blackmailing.

His statement came in an apparent reference to the 14 members of the PTI in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly who raised a banner of revolt against policies of their own government in the province and formed a separate faction.

Earlier, the group members submitted their resignations to the Deputy Speaker of the provincial assembly and took oath on the Holy Quran to remain united.

Talking to media representatives after his meeting with the Election Commission in Islamabad on Friday, the PTI chairman said that he will meet members of his party’s forward bloc in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly. He said that he will prefer dissolving the provincial assembly rather than succumbing to blackmailing.

The PTI chairman further said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is ready to hold local bodies elections on April 30. He said that matters relating to electronic voting and biometric system were discussed during the meeting.
