Monitoring Desk: The recent statement of Afghan Acting Defense Minister, Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob who is the son of the founder of the Taliban movement Mullah Umar against Pakistan in which he bluntly accused Pakistan of allowing its airspace for US drone strikes in Afghanistan is neither a surface statement nor it is only for domestic gains rather is a dangerous move that Pakistan may have to avert tactfully.

According to a special report published by Express Tribune on Sunday titled “THE DANGEROUS GAMBLE: ZAWAHIRI’S KILLING & TALIBAN’S BLAME”, the writer Naveed Hussain raised several serious issues directly related to Pak-Afghan future relations and rise of Indian involvement within the Afghan Interim government.

The tilt of the Afghan interim government towards India can be seen in decision-making in Kabul and one of the reasons can be the return of over 82% of former staff of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in the intelligence network that is running Afghanistan under the new set-up.

The immediate gain that the Afghan interim government got from this new arrangement is that India has become the first country to accord a de facto recognition to the Taliban regime.

Everybody knows that Afghanistan’s US-backed previous rulers were bitterly hostile toward Pakistan and the NDS had worked closely with India’s RAW to wage a proxy war to destabilize Pakistan.

To understand the currents and undercurrents of the Interim Afghan government, one must read the full special report of Express Tribune to click this link.
