NEW DELHI, India: Amid looming allegations of mass corruption in Indian Air Force (IAF), the Indian Supreme Court has been approached to order an inquiry into the Mirage Aircraft 2000 crash and also initiate an action against those responsible.

Last Friday, the Mirage 2000 Trainer Fighter Aircraft of IAF crashed just after it took off at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Yemalur area of Indian Bengaluru City, leaving both the pilots Squadron Leader Samir Abrol and Squadron Leader Siddartha Negi dead.

IAF Squadron Leader Samir Abrol along with Squadron Leader Siddartha Negi was killed after Mirage 2000 trainer fighter aircraft crashed at the HAL, Bengaluru, on February 1.

Meanwhile the Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava filed a petition in the Indian Supreme Court on Wednesday, seeking a probe into the incident and also recommend measures to avoid such occurrences in the future.

It is worth noting that more than 80 Indian pilots have lost their lives since 2011 as a result of over 75 crashes of aircrafts and helicopters.

In view of the alarmingly increase in the number of crashes of various aircraft and helicopters belonging to the Indian Armed Forces in the recent times, leading to loss of precious lives of a number of air warriors, the petitioner has preferred the instant PIL (Public Interest Litigation),” Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava was quoted as saying by Deccan Herald (DH).

Prior to the filing of a petition in the Indian Supreme Court, a poem posted on social media by Garima Abrol – the wife of deceased IAF Squadron Leader Samir Abrol – had already stirred a controversy with regard to the alleged massive corruption in Indian Air Force.

Subsequently, the IAF Officials also felt the heat over Garima Abrol’s allegations, and pressurized her to withdraw her corruption allegations in Indian Air Force.

The IAF Officials intimidated Garima Abrol of implicating her late husband in malpractices if she doesn’t comply with their demands.
