New Delshi: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee gave Madhya Pradesh two National Tourism Awards for year 2011-12 at the National Tourism Award function held in New Delhi today at Vigyan Bhawan.The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reports.
The awards were given in the field of best civic management of a tourist destination in category-‘B’ city for Municipal Council of Mandu in Dhar district and for the most innovative and unique tourism project-Air Taxi.
The 23rd National Tourism Award function was presided by Union State Minister for Tourism Dr. K. Chiranjeevi. Secretary Tourism Parvej Dewan and senior officials of Tourism Ministry were present on the occasion.
Madhya Pradesh Minister for Tourism Brijendra Pratap Singh and Principal Secretary Tourism Shri S.P.S. Parihar received the National Tourism Award for best civic management of Mandu. The Municipal Council of Mandu is dedicated to the overall development of the city. The Council works with active participation of local community and civic bodies. The Council is not only generating awareness among the people to keep the city clean and green but at the same time creating a high level of awareness about eco-preservation amongst the general masses.
The historical and religious aspect of Mandu throw a different set of challenges and problem and the Mandu Municipal Council effectively meets those challenges to create a world class environment. Most innovative and unique tourism project-Air Taxi National Tourism Award was received by Dr. Mohan Yadav chairman M.P. Tourism Development Corporation and Managing Director of M.P. Tourism Development Corporation Raghvendra Kumar Singh.
Madhya Pradesh has become the pioneer State in the country to launch the first intra-state Air Taxi services through MPSTDC, in a joint venture with M/s Ventura Air connect Pvt. Ltd. The Air Taxi project has provided a boost not only to tourism sector but also commercial activities. In addition, wild life, sports, adventure, religious and leisure tourism have received a big boost. Air connectivity to remote areas has a direct impact on in its prosperity. It influences hotel occupancy, taxi usage and its allied activities. These air connections will provide easy accessibility to cities with tourist interest and business potential.
