The Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was arrested when his jet was shot down by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday morning, expressed gratitude to Pakistan army for treating him with dignity.
“I would like to put this on record & I will not change my statement if I go back to my country. The officers of the Pakistan Army have looked after me very well. They are thorough gentlemen,” Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman said in a video chat with an Officer of Pakistan army.
“This is what I would expect my army to behave us and I am very impressed by the Pakistani army,” he said.
The Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman told that he is married but declined to reveal the purpose his intrusion into Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General said on his twitter account that “There is only one pilot under Pakistan Army’s custody”
The director general ISPR said that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is being treated as per norms of military ethics.
Earlier Major General Asif Ghafoor told that PAF fighter jets shot down two Indian aircrafts inside Pakistani airspace after they had crossed the Line of Control (LoC).
The DG ISPR said that one of the aircrafts fell inside Azad Jammu and Kashmir while other fell inside Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
