No indication as yet of establishment interference in political situation: Sirajul Haq

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Sirajul Haq has said that unlike the past, there is no indication as yet of interference by the Supreme Court and the establishment in the country’s political situation.

Talking to media persons following a meeting with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) delegation led by its co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari at Mansoora in Lahore on Saturday, the JI leader expressed satisfaction that so far the apex court and the establishment have kept themselves away from the political crisis.

The JI leader said that during the meeting with the PPP delegation, both sides exchanged views on how to restore peace conditions for the nation in the backdrop of politics of sit-ins in Islamabad.

Sirajul Haq said that it is their effort to find a peace and honourable way out of the political crisis.

Sirajul Haq said that the PPP co-chairman informed him that a four-member committee consisting of Syed Khursheed Shah, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Mian Raza Rabbani and Rehman Malik will liaise with the Jamaat to make efforts for solution of the present turmoil.

Moreover, he said that rising above their personal and party interests, all political parties of the country are united for safeguarding of the constitution and democracy.
