Indo-Pak tension increases as Indian army martyred more civilians along with Line of Control
Islamabad, Pakistan: Indian Army continues targeting civilians and Pakistani soldiers along with Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday.
Unprovoked firing along LoC by Indian forces on Wednesday evening targeted Nezapir, Sabzkot and Kayani sectors resulting in martyrdom of one soldier and two civilians.
The month of July witnessed increase in violations conducted by Indian forces resulting in deaths of several civilians and Pakistan soldiers.
Indian forces are constantly engaging Pakistani troops on LoC at one end of the Himalaya and Chinese forces on the other end of same mountainous range. Indian forces since June 16 are in position of a standoff with Chinese forces without any causality from both sides in Sikkim region.
Meanwhile, Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan Armed Forces in a statement said that Pakistan Army aggressively responded on Indian posts after unprovoked firing conducted by Indian forces.
“Response destroyed Indian posts firing on Pakistani posts/ civilians. Five Indian soldiers were killed and many were injured. Indian guns went silent due to effective engagement conducted by Pakistan Army. Unprovoked cease fire violations shall always be responded strongly, aggressive and effectively by Pakistan Army” said Director General of ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor.

It may be mentioned that Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned by the Director General (SA & SAARC) on Wednesday afternoon before latest incident of Wednesday evening and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces in Baroh and Tandar Sectors on 18 July 2017, resulting in martyrdom of two civilians, including one woman in Barho Sector and a man in Tandar Sector, and injuries to six others.
According to a statement issued by Foreign Office of Pakistan, the DG urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement; investigate incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC. He urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Tehmina Janjua met Islamabad based Heads of Missions of European Union Member States on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She (Foreign Secretary) briefed EU representatives on the evolving peace and security situation in the region and highlighted the atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian security forces against unarmed innocent Kashmiri civilians and ceasefire violations committed by India at LoC.
It is pertinent to mention that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India established a hotline contact on Monday (July 17) after four Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom when Indian troops targeted their vehicle moving along the Neelum River on Line of Control (LoC) at Athmuqam area of Azad Kashmir.
According to the ISPR, Pakistani DGMO Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza emphasized the importance of controlling tactical actions of under command troops since these indiscretions can potentially spiral major standoffs. He said that such acts have the potential to escalate which then will be extremely detrimental to peace and stability.
“While we don’t want to go down the path where we start choking each other’s supply lines; however, any such recurrence will invoke more strong and effective measures from Pakistan’s side,” Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza told his Indian Counterpart according to the ISPR.
