ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reiterated its commitment to promote inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities through support and facilitation.
The PTA’s official bilingual mobile responsive website is compliant to the universal web accessibility standards for persons with disabilities (http://pta.gov.pk), said a press release issued by the authority on Thursday.
It said that the accessible version of the website, launched in 2017, was one of the pioneer government websites that focused on inclusivity and accessibility for all.
As per the best international practices, the web accessibility standards for persons with disabilities have been introduced so that differently-abled persons can access the website without any hassle.
An interactive toolbar has been introduced which includes features such as text re-sizing, text-to-speech plug-in, magnifier, and color contrast.
The PTA believes that developing accessible digital resources will foster a more inclusive environment while improving skills and efficiency.
It is collaborating with different organizations to make further efforts in this direction.
The PTA remains determined to continue such efforts in the future for sustainable digital inclusion and accessible information.
