QUETTA, Pakistan: The Iranian government on Saturday closed its border with Pakistan for five days, a security official told media.
The initiative was taken to avoid occurrence of any untoward incident during the observance of Ashura-e-Muharram.
The official said that the Iranian border authorities had informed their Pakistani counterparts about the decision of the Iranian government.
“The border would remain closed for five days,” the official said, adding that trade activities at the border would remain suspended during these days.
The security official said that Pakistan has also deployed Frontier Corps personnel to strictly guard the border.
