Mehwish Hayat is one of those celebrities who have proved their worth both in the acting and the humanitarian field. She hasn’t only received the accolade as an actress, but is the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz winner, the face of the anti-terrorism campaign in Pakistan, and has also received a special international award from the United Nations (UN) in America. All of this hint at her being capable to become a good politician willing to serve people, and we think that might be coming true.
About Entering Politics In 2028
All of her credentials point that Mehwish is credible to contest in elections. In an interview with the UK-based website, she hinted that she may stand in the 2028 General Elections of Pakistan. A Twitter user, in 2019, jokingly said that she had made a giant leap towards Premiership for 2023. To respond to this, Mehwish jokingly stated in 2028. Some of her fans even went on to create a poster for 2028 based on the Obama campaign. The poster described her as the ‘Qaum Ki Awaaz’.
She said that she has a lot to learn, but she has eight years to learn and consider herself for the position.
“I would like to say that I love the power that comes with politics – don’t get me wrong, I am not some sort of megalomaniac.
“For me, politics is about being in a position to make a difference in the lives of people.”
What’s Important In Politics For Her?
When talking about what’s important for her in terms of politics and raising the voice and what differentiates her from others, she said:
“I feel that I understand what the needs and worries of the average people are.
“It is really touching that they reach out to me on social media and ask me to highlight issues of concern to them.
“I also am a fighter, once I get my teeth into something, I will not let go till I achieve it.”
Talking About The Role of Women
Mehwish was appointed ‘Goodwill Ambassador for Girls’ by the Ministry of Human Rights. Talking about the future of the country concerning women leading it, she continued:
“I think that it is impossible for me to contemplate any sort of future for Pakistan without the involvement of women.
“We are no longer the image that films and dramas unfortunately still show us as. Women in Pakistan are CEOs, fighter pilots, doctors, politicians, engineers, and are in every single profession.
“Pakistan will stagnate if women are not part of its future development.”
This clearly shows how strong of a person Mehwish Hayat is when it comes to opinions, and we hope she contests in politics in the years to come. We will be rooting for her.
