Capital of Pakistan Islamabad has no official slaughterhouse
Islamabad, Pakistan: The Capital of Pakistan Islamabad has no official slaughter House and Sahala Slaughterhouse (abattoir) is non-operational.
According to daily Jinnah, the sole Slaughter House of capital which is located in Salaha is non-operational and meat and beef being provided to the residents of capital city of Islamabad are arriving from Jhang, Bhakhar, Talagang and Rawalpindi. The standard of meat and beef being provided by Jhang, Bhakhar and Talagang is not being checked by capital authorities. It is pertinent to mention that population of Rawalpindi and Islamabad is around 10 million where sole Slaughter House of Rawalpindi was providing meat and beef but now beef and meat are also arriving from adjoining districts due to high demand of meat and beef.
Newspaper further said that Sahala Slaughter House has been non-operational since long and no action has been taken so far to operate sole Slaughter House of Islamabad.
Over 99% population of Islamabad is Muslim and meat and beef is major component of food of residents.
According to available information, illegal slaughtering of animals in areas of Bhara Kahu and Golra Sharif is in the knowledge of authorities of Capital Development Authority (CDA) but authorities are shy to take action against illegal slaughtering of animals because demand of beef and meat is being managed through such illegal slaughtering business.
