ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad Police have finalized security arrangements for political gathering of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at F-9 Park on April 24 (Sunday).
The sources said that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin has given final approval to the security plan after taking several security briefings from SPs appointed in various Zones.
Police sources said that SPs gave presentations to the IGP Tariq Masood Yasin in last week about security arrangements in their respective areas following which a comprehensive security plan has been chalked out.
The IGP also visited the F-9 Park area and was briefed about the implementation on the plan. During this visit, he also directed for the complete screening of the venue and combing operation in the various parts of the city including forest areas.
The source said that more than 6,000 security personnel will be deputed for security of participants. According to the sources, there will be three-tier security in Islamabad – Police, Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) – to protect the city and to avoid any untoward situation.
Special arrangements will be made for checking of all participants in a prestigious way. Walk through gates and metal detectors will be used for checking of participants, the sources added.
CCTV cameras will be installed at the venue while no effort would be made to create any type of unrest.
ITP staff would also remain present on various roads to avoid inconvenience to the road users and parking areas will be specified for the participants of the gathering.
No participant will be allowed to carry arms and ammunition or any sort of weapons, batons or sticks through which people could be harmed.
Checking of the venue will be made with the sniffers dogs and bomb disposal squad will be there for effective checking.
The Quick Response Force (QRF) teams will also maintain high vigilance through patrolling while policemen will be deputed alongwith sophisticated weapons on various routes to avoid any untoward incident.
