The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday released a song in honour of Pakistani women with a message from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on International Women’s Day.

“We are proud of role and contributions of our women in uniform, back home and especially the ones who belong to martyrs’ families. The great Pakistani women have a role and responsibility towards progress of Pakistan,” the COAS said in his message on International Women’s Day being celebrated today (March 8, 2018) worldwide including in Pakistan to raise awareness about gender equality and empowerment of women. 

This year’s theme for the International Women’s Day is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.

To mark International Women’s Day, worldwide gatherings, conferences, exhibitions and festivals are being held today.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and the Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also paid tributes to Pakistani women for their role in building Pakistan.


In her address at a ceremony held in Islamabad today, the State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb also said the International Community lauded measures taken for rights of women in Pakistan.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said they all had to work for women empowerment. She said the government should make policies on rights and empowerment of women.

“Women play key role in democracy. Benazir Bhutto gave numerous sacrifices for democracy. I appeal to political parties not to use women for political purposes,” the information minister said.
