DAMASCUS: Israeli warplanes have attacked a military base near Syrian coastal city of Latakia, a US official said.

The official said the strike, happened overnight on Thursday, targeted Russian-made SA-125 missiles intended for the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah.
