ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The proposed Jabba Dam in Khyber agency will benefit around one million population to have access to mineral quality drinking water on sustainable basis round the year, an official source said.

Talking to the state-run news agency on Thursday, the official source said that Jabba Dam will be constructed very soon at Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber agency.

The source said that its main objective is to provide smooth and sustainable water supply to the inhabitants of Hayatabad, Regi Lalma township in Peshawar adjacent areas as well as Tehsil Jamrud area of Khyber agency.

The official source informed that revenue benefit from water supply will be US $ 635.79 million per year and from fisheries it will be US $ 29.73 million per year.

Furthermore, he said that recently a high level Chinese delegation visited FATA Development Authority and got detailed briefing regarding construction of Jabba Dam by the administration.

The Chinese delegation showed keen interest to finance the construction of the Jabba Dam and they thanked the detailed presentation given by the FATA Development Authority, sources said.
