ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday dismissed the review petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) senior Jahangir Tareen against his lifetime disqualification.
The former Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen was disqualified for life by a three-member Bench of the Supreme Court comprising the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Faisal Arab under article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution on December 2015, 2018 for misdeclaration of assets in response to a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League’s (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi.

However, Jahangir Tareen filed a review petition on January 12 through his Counsel Sikandar Bashir Mahmond in the Supreme Court, arguing that he did not intentionally conceal assets in his nomination papers. But the Court today upheld the decision of his disqualification.
In his remarks, the Chief Justice said that how can a public representative carry out suspicious transactions.

Separately, the Supreme Court also refused to form a full bench to hear a review petition filed by the PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi against the Apex Court’s decision to dismiss the disqualification case against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
