KARACHI, Pakistan: The right activist Muhammad Jibran Nasir has announced to contest the upcoming general elections from Karachi as an independent candidate.

In his twitter account, Jibran Nasir unveiled his intention to run in the elections – scheduled on July 25, 2018 – from NA-247 Karachi South-II and PS-111 Karachi South-V.

“I am filing nomination papers for NA-247 (previously known as NA-250) & PS-111 (previously PS-113) as an independent candidate,” Jibran Nasir said.

“I am overwhelmed by the support, love and encouragement I have received already. Together we can and must change the political landscape for a better future,” he further wrote.

However, separately talking to media, he said although he had filed nominations papers for both National assembly and Sindh assembly constituencies but eventually he might contest from either one.

Jibran Nasir also contested the general elections held in May 2013 as an independent candidate from NA-250 and PS-133 but failed to make an impact. He received 259 votes from NA-250 and stood 11 among 32 candidates while bagged 428 votes from PS-133, clinching fifth position among 31 candidates.
