Another journalist has fallen prey to anti-social elements in Haripur, the second assassination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hazara Division within one and half year (Journalist Sohail Khan shot dead).
The young journalist Mohammad Sohail Khan, a dwell of Hattar area of Haripur City and having affiliation with Gilgit Baltistan-based Daily K2 newspaper, was shot to death in Haripur on Tuesday morning, a day after he filed a story against drug dealers.
Sources said that after the publishing of the news, Humayun, the son of a drug dealer, made a life-threatening call to Sohail Khan. Eventually, Sohail submitted a written application against life threats with the District Police Officer (DPO) Haripur.

But as Sohail Khan left the DPO Office and was on his way to home, Humayun opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, local journalists resorted to a strong protest against the murder of Sohail Khan, saying that the Haripur Police haven’t even arrested the killers of journalist Bukhshish Elahi.
Bukhshish Elahi was gunned down on June 11, 2017 in Haripur. However, his killers have not yet been apprehended by the police.
The local journalists demanded a swift action against culprits by the police and also sought protection for crime reporters in the area.
