PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The journalists and members of Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) and Peshawar Press Club staged protest demonstration in Peshawar on Thursday against the remarks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan in response to a question of a journalist and gave one week’s deadline to tender apology.

Led by KhUJ President Nisar Muhammad and General Secretary Peshawar Press Club Fida Adeel, the journalists took out a protest demonstration from press club building and marched up to Governor House Peshawar against Imran Khan’s remarks in response to a question of a journalist over his separation issue with Reham Khan.

The journalists were holding placards and banners besides raising full throated slogans like “Go Imran Go, We Want Freedom, Restrictions on Media and questions are unacceptable”.

President KhUJ Nisar Mehmood said that asking of questions was the right of journalist, adding politicians are public figures and people wanted to know about them.

“This was a token protest demo and if PTI Chief did not tender apology within a week, the journalists community would stage a peaceful protest in front of CM KP house and later the protest would be extended to the entire province and country,” he warned.

In a press conference in Peshawar a couple of days ago, Imran Khan had used harsh words against a journalist who posed a question about his separation with Reham Khan. Before the conference, the PTI Chief had asked the media outlets to respect his personal life and decisions.
