ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) hearing the post-arrest bail application of former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf in judges detention case was disintegrated on Tuesday when Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui refused to be a member of the bench.

Justice Siddiqui said a campaign was being run against him on social media with regard to the case which was why he could no longer be a member of the bench.

The issued was forwarded to the Chief Justice of IHC Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi, asking him to issue orders for the formulation of a new bench.

On Monday, a large group of lawyers had their statements recorded before the Shalimar Police Station against former president Pervez Musharraf in judge’s detention case.

Their statements cited that former president Pervez Musharraf had imposed emergency on November 3, 2007.

Earlier on April 18, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court had rejected Musharraf’s bail plea and ordered his arrest. On May 22, a trial court rejected a second bail plea by Musharraf after the IHC shot him down.
