ISLAMABAD: Justice Nasirul Mulk took oath as the 22nd Chief Justice of Pakistan at a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, a day after Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani retired as the country’s top judge.
President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to the newly appointed chief justice.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, federal ministers, Speaker National Assembly, Chairman Senate, three chiefs of armed forces, former Chief Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jillani, senior lawyers and judges participated in the oath taking ceremony.
Justice Nasirul Mulk will serve as the Chief Justice till August 16 next year.
Justice Mulk belongs to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district. He was born on August 17, 1950 and completed his degree of Bar-at-Law from Inner Temple London and was called to the Bar in 1977.
